Our two mules, named Dennie and Duffi, are working animals. They love to work and need plenty of exercise to stay fit and healthy. They can be seen on our roads, slowly transporting materials such as compost, rubbish and tree seedlings around KFBG, to reduce the use of motor vehicles. When not working, they also act as education ambassadors interacting with our visitors in close encounter sessions at the Mule Stables. There message is 'Slow down'.
Mules are a cross between a horse and a donkey. They carry about 1,000kg of goods each month, covering 30 to 40 km.
Before Dennie and Duffi joined KFBG they spent a few years helping to build the Ngong Ping cable car on Lantau Island by carrying heavy loads up the mountain.
Please look out for our Mule Keeper talks, which we run occasionally.
The Mule Stables can be visited only on a Guided Visit or Mule Keeper Talk.
