Green Hub (Old Tai Po Police Station) Group Visit Programme

1. Objectives

“Green Hub” is transformed from the Old Tai Po Police Station that located in Hong Kong’s New Territories. It is a Grade I listed historic building built in 1899. In 2010, the HKSAR Government selected Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) to transform the heritage site into a "Green Hub for Sustainable Living", as part of the "Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme (Batch II)" (Revitalization Scheme) for promoting sustainable living.

Apart from demonstrating an integrated approach to conserve  the historic, architectural, ecological and cultural aspects of the heritage,  the Green Hub is equipped withheritage display, theme-gardens and a teaching kitchen for “Eat Well Programme”. Through the Programmes specially designed for teenagers, we guide them to enquire conservation issues and sustainable living from a holistic approach. Green Hub started operation in 2015.

2. Content
Green Hub's education programmes integrate the holistic 3H approaches (Head, Hand and Heart) inspired by the famous educator, writer and editor Satish Kumar from Schumacher College. More than instilling knowledge, we provide students with hands on experience, so as to build and foster relationships with the heart and reconnect them to the earth.
