Education Officer
Fauna Conservation Department
Major responsibilities
- Organise educational activities and collaborate with other environmental NGOs;
- Develop interpretive and artistic content of public exhibit displays;
- Develop Facebook stories to promote the work of the department and KFBG and assist the Live Education Displays section with weekly Animal Keeper talks;
- Handle media approaches related to the department work;
- Coordinate the public Night Walk Programme supporting animal experts;
- Develop the connections with nature theme for animal encounters activities;
- Develop educational resources and animal story signage for rescued wildlife;
- Handle general administrative duties in support of the education programmes;
- Provide interpretation service for KFBG visitors and schools;
- Train and manage the education volunteer team;
- Budget preparation for the department’s education programme;
- Manage and develop the animal photo library;
- Sit on the Holistic Education Forum at KFBG;
- The successful candidate will be attached to the Live Education Display team but will work on wide ranging department education needs.
Job Requirements
- Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBG;
- Excellent command of English and Cantonese (written, spoken and in presentation). Fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage;
- Degree holder in education, or natural sciences, 4+ years of working experience in education and/or community education programmes;
- Computer literate, Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
- Passion for nature;
- Self-motivated, dynamic and a good team player;
- Physically fit for frequent outdoor work and willing to work on Saturdays/Sundays and public holidays (for education activities);
- Valid Type I or II driving license an advantage.
