Education Officer
Holistic Education Department
Job Summary
To develop and implement experiential-based programmes to enrich visitors’ learning experience at KFBG by integrating elements of Head, Hands, Heart and Home into all possible programmes, and to liaise with KFBG conservation/education officers/ KFBG volunteers, and external partners to diversify the education programmes.
Major responsibilities
- To develop, organize and conduct education projects, artist-in-residence programmes, music/art camps, seminars, and workshops for schools, professional groups and community participation in environmental awareness programmes in support of the KFBG Mission;
- To assist Senior Education Officer to curate content for Kadoorie Earth Programme (KEP), art exhibition and performance;
- To handle programme logistics and administrations, including promotion, application and evaluation;
- To organize and conduct experiential activities, and art-related programmes for children, youth and adults at the Art House;
- To manage activity booths with education officers, part-time programme assistants and nature education volunteers (daily – includes Sundays and/or Public Holidays and/or at special events);
- Integrate elements of Head, Hands, Heart and Home, and experiential learning into all possible programmes;
- To assist senior education officer/ education officers to design, develop and produce educational resources, books and multi-media materials and operation manual;
- To establish and maintain a network of relevant experts, community groups, schools and other organizations;
- To assist Summer Internship Training Programme;
- To assist Senior Education Officer and Head of the Education Department on general administrative matters.
Job Requirements
- Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBGC;
- Degree in Education, Experiential Education, Sociology, Art Administration, Environmental Science or related disciplines;
- Minimum 3 years of solid experience in coordinating community projects/ education activities;
- Good communication and organizational skills;
- Fluent in written and spoken Chinese and English;
- Physically fit to work in outdoor environment;
- Well organized and detail-minded;
- Proactive and able to work independently and a good team player;
- Open minded and recognize the validity of all spiritual paths;
- Able to work residentially occasionally, including weekends and public holidays;
- Proficiency in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Canvas and Chinese Word Processing;
- Familiarity on software skill such as use of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro would be an advantage;
- Valid Type I or II driving license would be an advantage.
