Job Duties

  • Carry out various duties related to arboriculture, including but not limited to tree survey, tree risk assessment, tree selection, tree planting, tree caring, disease diagnosis, tree pruning, tree felling and so on;
  • Lead Tree Team to carry out various arboriculture duties in botanic garden and forest of KFBG;
  • Take part in forest rejuvenation project in KFBG;
  • Manage KFBG’s arboricultural waste recycling programme;
  • Supervise and monitor contractors to provide various services to Flora Conservation Department;
  • Handle various administrative works such as compiling report, managing tree inventory, preparing tender document and so on.


  • Bachelor degree in arboriculture, horticulture, biological science or equivalent;
  • Qualification of ISA Certified Arborist/ Technician Member of Arboricultural Association of UK/ European Tree Worker of European Arboricultural Council or equivalent;
  • 5 years post qualification experience;
  • Previous experience in supervising work teams and contractors will be an advantage;
  • Knowledge and experience to work independently in surveying and identifying hazardous trees;
  • Familiar with up to date technical, practical and safety standards in tree climbing and tree works;
  • Good knowledge of the trees of Hong Kong;
  • Proficiency in administrative works such as report compilation, tree inventory management and tender preparation;
  • Competent in both written and verbal Cantonese and English, competent in Mandarin would be a distinct advantage;
  • Valid Hong Kong driving license (class 1 and 2) is required.
  • Physically fit for outdoor work and experience in hiking in countryside of Hong Kong.
  • Open minded and recognizes the validity of all spiritual paths.
