Introduction of Kadoorie Conservation China

Kadoorie Conservation China (KCC) is a department of KFBG which focuses on biodiversity conservation work in Mainland China. KCC was founded in 1998 with the aim to minimise biodiversity loss and promote sustainability in China. Today, KCC has thriving projects in Hainan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Sichuan provinces of China, as well as Cambodia. For more information of our projects, please download our information pack and follow KFBG Facebook, KCC Weibo (webpage: weibo.com/kfbgkcc) and WeChat (ID:kadoorieconservation).

Our Stratigic Directions:

Field Report Series
One of the major goals of our programme is to provide the latest information on the distribution and status of the region's animal and plant species, the conservation value of our study areas, and the urgent threats they face. Since 1998, we have been carried out rapid biodiversity assessments with partner institutions in over 50 forest sites in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan provinces of China. To date, we have published field reports of 40 sites with detailed information on biodiversity, which should be useful to conservationists, academics and reserve managers interested in the biodiversity of South China. Read more. A few copies are available in KFBG now, please feel free to contact Ms. To at (852) 2483 7178 or kcc@kfbg.org if you would like a hard copy.

Wildlife Market Survey Report
Though the live wild animal trade in southern China is very active, there have been few long-term studies to understand the trade. KCC conducted a wildlife market survey in Guangzhou and Shenzhen of Guangdong Province from 2000 to 2003, recording the species being traded, the relative trade volume, and the conservation implications for these animals. A few copies are available in KFBG now, please feel free to contact Ms. To at (852) 2483 7178 or kcc@kfbg.org if you would like a hard copy.

Living Forests
KCC produced the bilingual Living Forests magazine on issues related to biodiversity conservation in Southern China between 2000-2010. With news and articles, it encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences in biodiversity conservation in the region. Although we ceased to produce this publication for a few years, many articles and information are still of relevance to conservation practitioners and those interested in the region’s rich biodiversity.
