The Tales of Native Trees

Making-of: Wood Stamp from Log by Leung Cheuk-yui

Local artist Leung Cheuk-yui explores the inseparable relationship between man and nature from the process of wood carving. During three weekends at the Art House, Leung will demonstrate wood cutting and carving techniques, and create four sets of wood stamps of different tree species. Visitors are welcome to observe the creation process, learn about the growth of different tree species and create a unique artwork through stamping and drawing, reflecting on and re-imagining the roles of trees in our lives.

The wood stamps will be created with reference to the form of the four native tree species:

- Cinnamomum camphora (樟樹)

- Celtis sinensis (朴樹)

- Liquidambar formosana Hance (楓香)

- Ficus microcarpa (細葉榕)
