Our World Pangolin Day activities for 16th February have been cancelled due to the present health concerns but we will be planning a special Pangolin Awareness Day in the near future and will keep you posted.

 

1. Special Public Visit to Conservation Genetics Lab

“Interested in cutting-edge DNA techniques?” Our lab scientist will explain how we use DNA techniques to identify the origin and the species of pangolins from seized scales.

  • Time: 10:30-11:00, 11:30-12:00
  • Registration Time: From 10:00
  • Capacity: 15 participants per session
  • Registration: Visitors can sign up on the day at the Registration Counter near the Reception. First come, first served.

2. Storytelling Session - "The Secrets of Pangolins"

“Want to learn some little secrets about Pangolins?”

Join us for story time to learn about these amazing creatures and how you can help them.

All are welcome. This programme is most fun and educational for ages between 3 to 10.

  • Time: 11:30-12:00, 13:30-14:00, 14:30-15:00, 15:30-16:00
  • Registration Time: From 10:30
  • Language: Cantonese
  • Capacity: 10 children and their parents per session
  • Registration: Visitors can sign up on the day at the Registration Counter near the Reception. First come, first served.

3. Pangolin Documentary “Looking for the Last Pangolin” and Conservation Rescue Clips

Kadoorie Conservation China Department conducted pangolin surveys in several protected areas on Hainan Island between 2014-15. This documentary reflects the threats the pangolins are facing in China and what KFBG and other NGOs are doing to protect this precious species. We will also share some rare pangolin release videos and photos that are taken by our KFBG rescue team.

  • Language of the Documentary: Mandarin (with Simplified Chinese subtitles)
  • Production Company of the Documentary: Colorful Nature Films
  • Registration: No registration is required. All are welcome.

4. Pangolin Booth and Fun Activities

KFBG is exhibiting a mobile booth about the fun facts as well as the threats of pangolins to deepen the general understanding of this endangered animal. In addition, guided by our volunteers, visitors can make pangolin paper models, or join in the arm painting activity to raise awareness about protecting the animal.

  • Registration: No registration is required. All are welcome. $10 each for arm painting activity.
