The Common Spotted Flat

Animal Stories

The Common Spotted Flat (Celaenorrhinus leucocera) is a rare butterfly in Hong Kong that is more frequently observed at KFBG – it is one of our signature butterfly species. The larvae like to eat the leaves of the Blue Sage (Eranthemum pulchellum) and protect themselves with a leaf shelter, while the adults are commonly found at the underside of leaves below the shade. Let’s see if you can spot one next time you visit!
