Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) invites applications from artists, performers and writers whose practices engage with nature, sustainability and community. The residency offers time and space to develop new work within KFBG’s living landscape and to connect artistic practice with ecological awareness.
Residency at a glance
- Residency duration: two to six weeks, depending on the proposal format.
- Artists are expected to create new work during the residency and present it at KFBG.
- Each selected artist should facilitate at least two workshops or public-facing programmes.
Residency focus
We encourage proposals that respond to biodiversity, conservation, habitat creation and the relationship between people and the natural environment. Interdisciplinary and site-responsive proposals are especially welcome.
Location
Nestled near Lam Tsuen in Tai Po, Hong Kong, KFBG is a hidden gem featuring nine kilometres of scenic roads winding through organic farming terraces, themed gardens and native forests, reaching heights of over 1,800 feet. We encourage artists to draw inspiration from nature, using diverse materials to create meaningful art that fosters dialogue around sustainability, nature and community.
Public engagement
The programme values artistic processes that are accessible to the public and that foster dialogue through workshops, performances or participatory formats.
