“Free Eggshell to farming”

Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), in collaboration with Kee Wah Bakery, is offering a batch of eggshell suitable for agricultural use, free of charge, to local farms and community gardens during March and April 2026.

The goal is to return organic waste from the city that still has potential value back to farmland through effective resource cycling methods, turning waste into a resource.

We welcome applications from all farms and community gardens.

Product Information:
Eggshells collected from Kee Wah Bakery’s production process are washed, dried and crushed. In line with the principle of organic resource recycling, this process transforms waste into fertility, returning it to the soil.

As eggshells are rich in nutrients, but not complete of nutrition, they are better used as a supplementary organic fertilizer, especially for crops with longer growth cycles, such as herbs or fruit trees. Fertilizer can be applied approximately every six months, with about 100g of crushed eggshells per square metre of planting area.

Eligibility for Application:
- All local farms, as well as school or community gardens, are welcome to apply (priority given to medium to large-scale farms/gardens).
- Applicants must provide an address accessible by truck for delivery and unloading. KFBG can assist with unloading materials to the roadside, but does not include transport to the specific plot within the farm/garden.

How to Apply:
