Children’s development unfolds much like the changing seasons, requiring time, space and gentle nurturing to grow.
Following the launch of our “Wonders in Nature” weekend parent-child playgroup, we are now extending this opportunity for exploration and connection with nature into the weekdays. Designed for children aged 2 to 3 years old (36-month-old or below) and their parents, this programme invites families to step into nature together and experience the beauty and wonder of the seasons through a gentle and nurturing rhythm. From the colourful leaves and fruits of late autumn, to the wise old trees and woodland sprites of early winter; from sleeping stones in the winter landscape to tiny seeds preparing for spring, children engage with nature through stories, songs, nature observation, crafts and play, fostering a deep and meaningful connection with the natural world.
The programme emphasises sensory experiences and free exploration. Children will wander through forests and natural spaces, feeling the warmth of the winter sun, listening to birdsong and the breeze, touching soil and tree bark, and discovering insects and the subtle changes taking place around them. Through play and creative activities using natural materials such as leaves, fruits, branches, stones and feathers, children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and express themselves at their own pace, while developing creativity, confidence and an appreciation for nature.
Parents are warmly invited to slow down alongside their children, taking time to admire a leaf, listen to a bird’s call, and notice the changing seasons together. Through these simple yet authentic experiences in nature, parents and children can explore, learn and grow side by side, creating warm and treasured memories of childhood that will last for years to come.
Fion Lam
Fion has been dedicated to early childhood education since 2017. Following the completion of a three-year Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training programme, she currently serves as a parent-child playgroup teacher, parent educator and curriculum planner at Sunflower Waldorf HK.
As an educator and mother of two, Fion deeply feels that true education extends beyond the classroom: it flourishes when parents and the surrounding environment walk hand in hand. Drawing from the essence of Waldorf pedagogy, she translates the vital connection between nature, rich sensory experiences and artistic nourishment into gentle, authentic encounters. Through holistic early childhood and parent education, she hopes to welcome families into an unhurried, nourishing sanctuary, savoring the world and growing together side by side
Kobe Law
Kobe has worked with young children and families for many years, and is known fondly as “Teacher Lavender”. Drawing from Waldorf pedagogy, she completed her teacher training at CiXin Taiwan, alongside studies in Waldorf early childhood education and Anthroposophic Medicine (IPMT), keeping a close focus on child well-being.
For Kobe, the early years are about slowing down - giving children the quiet gifts of nature, consistent rhythms, and steady, caring companions. As a teacher and co-founder at Sunflower Waldorf HK, she brings nature-led learning into practice, believing that when nurture and daily living harmonize, children grow deeply rooted, peaceful and whole.
