We are pleased to invite you to our webinar, where we will discuss our newly published Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) Annual Report 2025-2026, published in our 70th anniversary year (which can be downloaded here).

This milestone edition reflects KFBG’s journey from its humanitarian and agricultural roots to its present-day work in nature conservation, regenerative agriculture, holistic education, and sustainable living. It is both a celebration of the past and an invitation to look ahead.

During this webinar, we will share and discuss:

• Vision behind the Jockey Club Nature Conservation Centre, our new office

More than a review, it will be a dialogue with the audience, reflecting on what it means to care for the land, restore ecosystems, and mobilise our community to live in greater harmony with nature. It is also an invitation to remember deeply that ‘We Are Nature’.

Join Executive Director Wander Meijer, together with Department Heads Idy Wong, Josephine Woo and Gary Ades for an open panel discussion, moderated by Songqiao Yao. This will be followed by an interactive Q&A where we welcome your questions and reflections.

Speakers

Wander Meijer
Executive Director

Wander joined KFBG on 1 November 2021. He is a senior executive with 30 years business and management consultancy experience in Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific, including 20+ years in Hong Kong and China. He specialises in conservation research, with an emphasis on demand reduction for wildlife amongst consumers in Asia. At KFBG, Wander and his team of 300 staff work on nature conservation, holistic education and sustainable living.

Idy Wong
Head of Sustainable Living and Agriculture

Idy joined KFBG in 2000 and leads the development of Sustainable Living programme.  She heads the development of KFBG Green Hub, which receives both local and international recognition for sustainable design and management.  She is a trained environmental educator and specialises in sustainable system design for community development.  Idy oversees community engagement projects with a focus on capacity building for the transition towards a modest  ecological footprint lifestyle.

Josephine Woo
Head of Holistic Education Department

 Josephine joined KFBG in April 2022, focusing on transformative education that reconnects people with nature. A nature educator since the 1990s, she aims to use the arts in natural settings to enhance learning and connection with the Earth. Passionate about sharing nature's wonders, she seeks to strengthen human relationships with both natural and spiritual environments. Josephine studied mindfulness with Plum Village and holds a master’s degree in Buddhist Counselling from the University of Hong Kong, which enriches her approach to fostering understanding between humans and their environment.

Dr Gary Ades
Head of Fauna Conservation Department

Gary Ades joined KFBG in 1994 and was instrumental in developing the KFBG Wild Animal Rescue Centre and animal themed exhibits for education. The wildlife rescue programme now receives several thousand animals a year and has international recognition. He is an expert on the local Chiroptera (bats). Gary oversees several conservation projects which focus on local endangered species, and a community support project that provides mitigation for snake conflicts in Hong Kong. He is a member of several IUCN/SSC Specialist Groups and a regular advisor to the local Authorities.

Songqiao Yao
Songqiao Yao is passionate about bridging diverse ecological paradigms and indigenous wisdom to cultivate a reciprocal, nourishing relationship with our living Earth. As a member of the Club of Rome and the founder of WildBound, she acts as a global catalyst for systemic change, guiding educators, youth, philanthropists, and place-based communities toward collective action, resilience, and inner and outer regeneration.
