Job Summary:
The Assistant Education Officer / Education Officer plays a vital role in the Holistic Education Department at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), supporting our mission to harmonise the relationship between people and nature. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of a wide range of educational programmes, including guided tours for visitors from all walks of life, as well as both off-the-shelf and bespoke school programmes for learners from kindergarten to university level. This role calls for a proactive, enterprising, resourceful, and creative individual with a strong passion for nature education and experiential learning, and a genuine commitment to fostering personal and communal connections with nature.
Major Responsibilities:
- Support the development and delivery of educational programmes for the general public, students, and teachers.
- Integrate multidisciplinary knowledge and diverse approaches—such as arts-based and experiential learning—into educational programme design to promote holistic learning.
- Collaborate with local and overseas teachers to co-design and co-deliver place-based, cohesive, and experiential learning journeys for students and teachers.
- Design engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate activities that promote nature connection.
- Assist in the planning and enhancement of educational programmes, workshops, and retreats related to sustainability, nature connection, and holistic education.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to build partnerships and develop diverse educational initiatives.
- Coordinate with nature education volunteers to support programme delivery.
- Participate in and assist with outreach events and exhibitions to extend KFBG’s educational impact within the community.
- Maintain programme records, prepare reports, and handle administrative tasks to ensure smooth operation of educational activities.
- Ensure all programmes comply with safety standards and promote a safe learning environment for participants and colleagues.
Job Requirements:
- A recognised degree in Education, Environmental Science, Social Work, Counselling, Geography, or related disciplines.
- Preferably 1–2 years of relevant experience in nature education or a related field.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences, from young children to adults.
- Proficiency in both Chinese and English, written and spoken.
- Open-minded and open-hearted towards different faiths, beliefs, and religions, with a willingness to learn about various spiritual growth pathways.
- Strong passion for environmental conservation and holistic education.
- Creative, enthusiastic, adaptable, and self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
- Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
- Commitment to the values and mission of KFBG.
