Assistant Sustainable Living Officer

The Organisation

Under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), in partnership with the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), has revitalised the Old Tai Po Police Station into the Green Hub for Sustainable Living. Since 2015, Green Hub has offered a wide range of experiential learning programmes for schools, community groups, and the general public, with the aim of promoting sustainable living and connection with nature.

We are seeking an Assistant Sustainable Living Officer who shares our vision and values and is passionate about making a positive impact on the community and the environment.

Purposes

The Assistant Sustainable Living Officer plays a vital role in supporting Green Hub's mission to promote sustainable living through the coordination and delivery of a wide range of educational programmes and community initiatives. These include school programmes, heritage interpretation services, volunteer training, sustainable living workshops, and public events.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and implement sustainable living programmes, including workshops, events, outreach activities, and educational initiatives for individuals, schools, and organised groups of diverse ages and backgrounds, promoting environmentally responsible lifestyles.
  2. Support heritage interpretation services and related activities to enhance visitors' understanding and appreciation of heritage conservation and sustainable living.
  3. Provide administrative and logistical support for the planning, organisation, and delivery of sustainable living and heritage conservation education programmes.
  4. Support volunteer programmes which engage and empower community members, helping to strengthen Green Hub's capacity to promote community resilience.
  5. Collaborate with team members to develop new programmes and continuously improve the visitor experience at Green Hub.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the effective operation of Green Hub.

 

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education or a related discipline.
  2. Experience in programme coordination and implementation is preferred.
  3. Strong interest in and appreciation of heritage conservation, nature conservation, and sustainable living, with sound knowledge of sustainable living practices.
  4. Good organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire people from diverse backgrounds.
  5. Mature, self-motivated, dynamic, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team under pressure.
  6. Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese and English; knowledge of Mandarin is an advantage.
  7. Strong computer literacy is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required. Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is an advantage.
  8. Physically fit and willing to participate in outdoor activities.
  9. Open-minded and respectful of diverse spiritual beliefs and perspectives.
  10. Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of KFBGC.
  11. Holder of a valid Hong Kong Driving Licence (Class 1 or 2) is an advantage.
  12. Five-day work week. Working on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays is required. Occasional residential duties may be required.
