Production of care sheets for rescued and confiscated turtles in Wild Animal Rescue Centre

Internship Programme

Intern Project Duration:
Two months duration between 1 June – 31 August 2026

Project Scope:
The intern project will be separated into two parts. In the first part, the intern will assist with daily animal husbandry work of reptiles in Wild Animal Rescue Centre, to gain more understanding about the rescued and confiscated turtles, and skills and knowledge of taking care of them.

After acquiring the basic knowledge of turtle caring, the intern will then produce care sheets combining with the current practices and knowledge from scientific papers to help rescue centre staff provide evidence-based care to the turtles and systematically pass on the practices and knowledge to the newcomers.

Details:
Service Period: Two months between June to August
Working days: 5 days per week (might need to work on weekends and public holidays)
Working Hour: 0830-1700, including 1 hour lunch time
Travel allowance: HKD100 per day

Intern duties:

  • Assist with the animal husbandry work of rescued and confiscated reptiles
  • Review of reptile caring literatures
  • Generate evidence-based turtle care sheets

Job Requirements:

  • Enjoys nature and is physically fit for outdoor activities
  • Tertiary student or has tertiary qualifications
  • Good command of English and Cantonese (spoken and written);
  • Self-motivated, creative, with outgoing personality and energetic;
  • Able to work independently and in a team
