Countryside Eco-festival 2026: Plant Encounters- Transforming degraded sites into diverse, native forest through enrichment planting

Walk the Butterfly Path and see a degraded site turned into a biodiversity-rich ecosystem.

In this session, participants will visit one of KFBG’s restoration projects at the Butterfly Path, led by Fernanda, to learn how we are transforming a degraded, low-biodiversity site infested with invasive species into a vibrant, biodiversity-rich ecosystem through enrichment planting with native plants. This project creates a sanctuary for many threatened native plant species and supports myriad dependent wildlife, while showcasing the stunning and often unseen botanical flora that call Hong Kong’s countryside home.

Four views of the Butterfly Path planting: white daisy-like flowers, a butterfly resting on yellow blooms above a wooded valley, an interpretation sign beside a bank of yellow flowers along the trail, and a bee on a purple flower spike
HK$180per personSame price for adults and children. Entrance fee is not included. Income will be used to support KFBG’s plant conservation work.
