In the midst of summer’s vibrant energy, we invite you to join us for an immersive experience of mindfulness in nature, in our ‘Walking in Peace’ workshop with Ven. Ngawang Tenzin. Set in the serene surroundings of KFBG, take time to come back to the present moment, your body, your breath and the beautiful nature surrounding you.
Starting in the late afternoon, we will immerse ourselves in stunning forest scenery. We will take time to explore some simple Qigong movement practices both calming and energising, cultivating awareness of energy flows in the body as we connect with the rhythm of our natural breath. We will then embark on a ‘mindful hike’, exploring the trails of KFBG in contemplative silence as we make our way to the top of Kwun Yum Shan Summit. As the sun sets, enjoy a delightful summer dinner, sharing stories and laughter with fellow participants. If you’re fortunate, the enchanting glow of fireflies will light up the evening, creating a magical atmosphere.
Step by step, join us in a transition from a busy mind to a state of calm, leaving with a renewed sense of peace. Embrace this opportunity to cultivate mindfulness and serenity in your life, carrying the forest's calm with you into your everyday experiences.
Teacher
Venerable Ngawang Tenzin (Dr Alex Anderson) Ven. Ngawang Tenzin began with an ecologist’s understanding of interdependence, but the rainforest soon led him to Buddhist meditation. Now ordained as a monk in the Sakya Tibetan tradition, he has also studied and practiced meditation under Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh at Plum Village in France, at Mountain Spring near Sydney, and in Myanmar at Pa Auk Tawya. Also ordained in the Plum Village Order of Interbeing, an engaged Buddhist approach to the bodhisattva path, his practice is informed by Theravadin, Zen and Vajrayana methods of meditation and mindfulness, as well as Hatha yoga, Deep Ecology and his deep love of wild places. He currently lives in Australia, on Gumbaynggirr country on the Dorrigo Plateau, where he has a project to co-create community space for meditation, forest restoration and nature connection: http://www.gaiaforest.org.
