Internship Project Title:
Development of Care Sheets for Rescued and Confiscated Turtles at the Wild Animal Rescue Centre

Intern Project Duration:
Two months duration between 1 June – 31 August 2026

Project Scope:
The intern project will be divided into two parts.

In the first part, the intern will assist with daily animal husbandry for rescued and confiscated reptiles at the Wild Animal Rescue Centre. This hands-on experience will help the intern gain a deeper understanding of rescued and confiscated turtles, as well as develop practical skills and knowledge in their care.

The second part will provide an opportunity for the intern to develop evidence-based care sheets after acquiring foundational knowledge of turtle husbandry. These will integrate current centre practices with findings from scientific literature, enabling staff to provide standardised, evidence-based care and to systematically transfer knowledge to new team members and volunteers.

Details:
Service Period: Two months between June to August
Working Days: 5 days per week (might need to work on weekends and public holidays)
Working Hour: 0830-1700, including 1 hour lunch time
Travel Allowance: HKD100 per day

Intern Duties:

  • Assisting with the animal husbandry work of rescued and confiscated reptiles
  • Reviewing literature on reptile caring
  • Generating evidence-based care sheets for turtles

Job Requirements:

  • Loves nature and physically fit for outdoor work
  • Current tertiary student or graduate
  • Strong spoken and written English and Cantonese
  • Self-motivated, creative, outgoing and energetic
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
