Internship Project Title:
Development of Feeding Protocols for Young and Unweaned Mammals Commonly Received at the Wild Animal Rescue Centre

Intern Project Duration:
Two months duration between 1 June – 31 August 2026 

Project Scope:

The intern project will be divided into two parts.

In the first part, the intern will assist with daily animal husbandry work in the ward to gain a deeper understanding of the rescue and rehabilitation process, as well as skills and knowledge in taking care of baby animals.

The second part involves developing feeding protocols for young and unweaned mammals commonly received at the Wild Animal Rescue Centre. The intern will review feeding records of the one to two unweaned mammal species received over the past 5 years to summarise the pattern of feeding and growth rate of our animals, combining this with scientific research to develop feeding protocols. 

Details:
Service Period: Two months between June to August
Working Days: 5 days per week (might need to work on weekends and public holidays)
Working Hour: 0830-1700, including 1 hour lunch time
Travel Allowance: HKD100 per day

Intern Duties:

  • Assisting with daily animal husbandry in the ward and outdoor enclosures
  • Summarising feeding records from the past 5 years
  • Reviewing literature on mammal care and husbandry
  • Generating an evidence-based feeding protocol for unweaned mammals

Job Requirements:

  • Loves nature and physically fit for outdoor work
  • Current tertiary student or graduate
  • Strong spoken and written English and Cantonese
  • Self-motivated, creative, outgoing and energetic
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
